I'm Ruki. Welcome to Rukinations.
I'm the type of person that loves to share my notes and resources with people. I enjoy video and physical games, which take up most of my time and research. I created Rukinations as a place to store any resources I created so I can share them with the click of a button with the world instead of constantly reposting the same information in different Discord servers over the course of five months.
In particular, I love role playing games, social deduction games, and survival horror games (no idea how that third one correlates here). Most of my time and research is spent looking into those three sectors of gaming.
Beyond Rukinations
I'm also a collector of fountain pens. They feel more comfortable to write with and I enjoy being able to customize the ink I put in my pen. My favorite fountain pen at the moment is probably the TWSBI Eco, which can go anywhere from twenty USD to sixty depending on which specific pen you buy. If you're looking for a really cheap pen to start with, though, then either buy a Pilot Metropolitan (comes with an ink cartridge) or buy Jinhao on AliExpress and a small vial of ink - those should cost you around twenty bucks each, give or take shipping and sales.
(Be thankful you don't talk to me personally. I don't shut up about fountain pens ever.
I also enjoy writing. I normally write in that grey area between horror and fantasy. Where do you draw the line between those two when writing stories about vampires or zombies or evil witches? The answer usually comes down to the feel an author is going for, but I like writing in the realm of both. I enjoy being able to tap into either depending on how the story plays out. I don't have anything to plug, though, for my writing.
My favorite Pokémon? ...Well, that depends on my mood and what Pokémon are available, but I'm most likely to say Manaphy, Pikachu, Urshifu, Venusaur, or Victini. Manaphy is probably one of the hardest Pokémon I've shiny hunted (which I did before they tied a Shiny Manaphy to the BDSP Pokédex), the Pikachu line is probably the Pokémon line I've had the most fun putting on teams, Urshifu is the Legendary Pokémon I've had the most fun putting on competitive teams, Venusaur is always my go-to starter, and Victini was the first Mythical Pokémon I ever tinkered with for VGC Doubles.
Games by Year
I don't particularly like the idea of New Year's Resolutions for a number of reasons. They're mostly inauthentic desires to change built upon social pressure that people drop as soon as it's socially acceptable. A New Year's Resolution should be a goal that you would have actively pursued anyway, at which point why start specifically on 01 January?
Part of that problem is that people either don't truly know how to set proper goals, or they pick a goal that's too strenuous to track.
One goal I wanted to start keeping track of, however, is simply tracking which games I play every year. I've been wanting to do this since 2023, but 2025 is the first year I managed to come up with a system I like for tracking these games. This lets me fondly look back on what I played (and any special restrictions I may have given myself) and see which devices I tended to use more in a given year. I do have a side goal as well of playing twelve different games a year, with at least half of those games being new to me games, but that's a side goal and not the main reason I keep this list.
Here's how I'm doing so far:
- Games of 2025
New Games: 7/13 (53.85%)
