State of the Collection

May 2026

Now that Rukinations v.3 is up and running, I thought it'd be fun to finally tidy up my collection and keep a list of what I have for easy trading later.

And good Arceus if I thought updating to Rukinations v.3 took forever, just writing this all up took ten times longer.

For this first State of the Collection, I'm gonna have to start fresh. The good news is that this gives me the freedom to set this up however I want. The bad news is that this mean I'm going to have to start from the ground up with ten regions to go through.

How these updates will be formatted will be simple: Updates are broken down by region (not by generation), then each region will consist my progress on the Expanded Living Dex. Additional forms will be posted right after initial forms. Occasionally, additional collection pages will be added for special alternate forms, such as the Furfrou patterns.

How to Read This List

Look, it was hard to make this list into something that could:

  1. Be easily copy-pasted (then edited) in the next update
  2. Be legible on any device (the old systems I tried looked awful on mobile)
  3. Load quickly (they also took forever to load; a ton of .JPGs and all)
  4. With minimal code (no way I was using JavaScript if I could avoid it)

  5. Still be easy to read

This is the system that grew from those complaints. Is it a lot of reading? Yes. Is it easy to Ctrl+F and search on Desktop? Yes. Does it work on smaller screens? Yes.

Each region is broken into a series of lists, with each list matching a PC box on Home. From there, Pokémon can be written in one of a few colors:

Normally-Colored Text Red-Colored Text Blue-Colored Text
Pokémon Already in the Collection Missing Pokémon New Pokémon

(Though for this first update I'll include everything as "already in" for sake of first update)

Each Pokémon is listed by its Regional Number. This is only to help when reading through the lists; I don't know a way to make browsers search the text of bullet points as well, sorry. If anyone knows a way to do that, please let me know.

Outside of recent games that focused on their region in particular, Kanto was probably the easiest region to collect. Kanto gets soooo much recognition and fanservice that it's not really a surprise that it's over-represented in games that are easier to shiny hunt.

I'm gonna have to do some digging, because I'm 95% sure I have a few of these shiny that I didn't see in my Home boxes (the Golbat and the Kadabra). Not sure how I could have missed those, but oh well, both are fairly easy to rehunt if I'm mistaken anyway.

I have more than enough copies of FireRed & LeafGreen, so hopefully I can get around to understanding that RNG Manipulation hunt and get most of if not the rest of these. Or at least the Legendary Birds; I could technically just send the rest to Ruby to breed shiny eggs for.

I'm not that surprised that I have so many missing. I have most of these in Pokémon GO in need of transferring, and I'm still not a particularly big fan of the Johto games, so I'm not particularly eager to finish this region in particular. I'll get to it eventually.

Those Unown in particular are going to give me a headache.

I think I remember getting the Snubbulls in Emerald, but I'll have to double check.

I know I have the Lugia (I just hunted that one the other day), I just haven't had the opportunity to move it over yet. Same with the Porygon2; trade evolutions can be a pain to coordinate sometimes, and naturally we had a held item to make that easier for exactly one game that makes those items expensive.

I'm actually surprised I have fewer Hoenn Pokémon than I do Kanto Pokémon. Most of my time shiny hunting was spent learning how to RNG Manip in Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald. I'm not surprised that I skipped these specific Pokémon, but I thought mathematically I'd have more. At least I'm missing fewer Pokémon in Hoenn.

I don't really know what to say here. This "region" consists of the Pokémon GO "exclusives" (that were later catchable in Legends: Z–A anyway but not shiny huntable).

For obvious reasons, both have the PoGO stamp. Not much I can really do about that unless they decide to make them shiny huntable in a mainline game, which defeats the point of them existing to advertise Pokémon GO in the first place.

(Well technically I can put the Home Completion Shiny Meltan in, but still)

I'm not going to include this region in future updates unless we get another Region Unknown Pokémon (which I hope doesn't happen).
