Statistics & Fun Facts
- Thirty-eight of ninety-three Mega Pokémon return in this format (40.86%)
- Of the thirty-eight eligible Pokémon (if I counted everyone correctly), seventeen of them are brand new Mega Evolutions in traditional VGC formats (44.74%).
- Inversely, twenty-one are returning Pokémon (55.26%).
- On breakdown by generation...
| Generation | Returning Megas | New Megas | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gen One | 3 | 07.89% | 3 | 07.89% |
| Gen Two | 5 | 13.16% | 0 | 00.00% |
| Gen Three | 8 | 21.05% | 0 | 00.00% |
| Gen Four | 5 | 13.16% | 3 | 07.89% |
| Gen Five | 0 | 00.00% | 1 | 02.63% |
| Gen Six | 0 | 00.00% | 4 | 07.89% |
| Gen Seven | 0 | 00.00% | 1 | 02.63% |
| Gen Eight | 0 | 00.00% | 1 | 07.89% |
| Gen Nine | 0 | 00.00% | 4 | 07.89% |
- Surprisingly, despite Mega Evolution debuting in Generation 7, no returning Mega Evolution from that generation are in this format.
- Most returning Mega Evolutions are from Gen 3 (Gardevoir, Sableye, Medicham, Camerupt, Altaria, Banette, Glalie, and Salamence).
- Most new Mega Evolutions are from either Gen 6 (Eelektross, Pyroar, Floette, and Dragalge) or Gen 9 (Scovillain, Glimmora, Tatsugiri, and Baxcalibur). This assumes that Eternal Form Floette is legal in this format, though, despite not being obtainable in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
- Ten of these Pokémon prior to Regulation M-A had a shiny distribution at one point, either...
- [6] directly (Gengar, Gyarados, Tyranitar, Gardevoir, & Lucario and Lucario Z), or
- [4] through evolution (Raichu X and Y, Altaria, & Salamence).
